Christmas Eve 2008

So this is our 2nd day in Connecticut. The trip out here was okay. Johnnie sat in his car seat on the plane the entire time. I think he was just super excited to watch movies, suck on his pacifier & drink juice the whole flight. He never even asked to get out of his seat. When we arrived at JFK his diaper was so wet it had soaked through his pajamas. Guess he was just happy to get to do things he doesn't usually get to do all day. Poor Joey on the other hand was fine until he got tired & could barely sleep on the flight. His cold also got worse with each hour that went by & he cried the last 2 hours of the flight. But now that we are here he has his happy moments when he's not in pain from his cold & very bad teething. We spent the day catching up with Rick's mom, stepdad, sister (Krys) & niece (Isobel).

And then that evening we decorated the tree. Joey was excited to help get the decorations out of the box but he was done after that & since he had transitioned to East coast time our first morning there he went to bed right after this picture. Don't they look cute in their new Christmas pjs?
The rest of the evening Johnnie helped his daddy put ornaments on the tree. He was really in to it constantly saying "Again." And the higher the better. All Done. Off to read Twas The Night Before Christmas & wait for the arrival of Santa.

Pajama Series

It's rare that Joey can stay clean. He loves food so much that he just really gets in to eating, but for the last 3 nights he has been able to wear the same pajamas to bed because he has managed to get all his food into his mouth & not on himself. Here are just some of the photos from the fast few nights. This Elmo toy giggles if you push it in just the right spot. Joe couldn't figure it out at first but loved when he did. He yells when he wants you to play with him. I wish you could have all seen him playing with this plastic golf putter. Johnnie has been trying to figure out the subtle nuances of how to swing a club but Joey just picks it up & swings it everywhere. And all of this playing makes him a thirsty boy.

I Ride Too

Joey has recently learned how to climb up on his riding toy by himself. Tonight he was using his feet to push himself around the room, but of course Johnnie wanted to ride too. Good thing they both fit.

10 on Tuesday-Impatience

1.Tonight I brought home a gift for both Johnnie & Joey from my dear friend Chris. I was hoping to set them aside until after we returned home from Christmas in Connecticut, but my impatient boys started opening the gifts as soon as they saw them.

2. It seems Joey wanted to help Johnnie open his gift to poor Johnnie's dismay.
3. A Lego bus that Johnnie was really happy with.4. And Joey was really happy with it too.5. Joey started opening his gift. He didn't really understand what to do, but he tried.6. I think Joe was pleading with Johnnie for some help.7. And with that help he was able to finish opening his very first Christmas gift.8. A moment of silence while they play nice.9. Next time I will hide the gifts from the boys. Lesson learned. But it was fun to watch.

10. And last but not least. I bought the boys some pants & Johnnie used a pair as a hat & my new slippers fit him quite nicely. Of course they were too big for him, but he had no trouble walking around in them. Again I will comment that kids are hilarious.

Make It STOP!

This past Friday Rick & I went to my company Christmas party. Rare occasions for a couple with kids to get out especially when I'm always pretty tired being so pregnant. Well we went to the Queen Mary for dinner & had a nice night. During the evening I won a remote control mini helicopter. Tonight Rick decided to share it with the boys. At first they were both really interested watching it fly around the room. But then it flew really close to Joe's head & he either got really angry or frightened. Either way you can see that he wanted it to stop flying. By the smile on Rick's face you can see that not only did he not stop flying but he was having a great time. And being the responsible parent that I am, I of course just continued taking photos. I guess we have both had better parenting days.

My Toys

Joey never gets to really choose what he wants to play with. He usually starts playing with a toy & then Johnnie comes over & trades with him to get what he wants. This afternoon Johnnie napped for 3 hours so Joey had 3 hours to play with anything he wanted. He was really happy to play with anything for as long as he wanted but as soon as his big brother woke up & came downstairs his face lit up. I guess he doesn't really care what he plays with.

Listen Jojo

This morning Johnnie was trying to read a book to Joey but he was more interested in chewing on Johnnie's pacifier. At least Johnnie's trying to share one of his favorite past times with his little brother & at least Joey isn't trying to tear the pages. Have to concentrate on the good things right. Oh yeah...while reading we usually ask Johnnie questions, like what color is that? How many balloons do you see? Well this morning we asked him what a particular group of animals were called. We were hoping for the answer baby chicks. Instead we got, "Mmmm...chicken nuggets." I guess he's right, right?

I'm Sick

I missed posting yesterday because my new computer was importing all my data from my old computer which took all night so tonight I'm posting 2 photos. After dinner before bath time the boys usually play. Tonight it was with their Word World barnyard legos. Right before bedtime poor Joey had to have his breathing treatment. He has been sick for the last week & this helps him breathe better. Doesn't he look so sad?

Wrestle-Mania

Sometimes when the boys play together it's all nice with the sharing. But other times they will be wrestling which is usually very fun at first & almost always ends in tears. I get the feeling that Johnnie should enjoy winning now because I think Joey may catch up soon.

Hello 3rd Trimester

Today marks the beginning of my 3rd trimester. Only about 11 weeks until we get to meet our baby boy. It's still hard to believe that in such a short time I will be holding a newborn baby in my arms & as you can see in the following photo he is growing quite nicely. When we got home from work tonight I found a package on my doorstep containing the first 2 10x10 photos for the wall leading up my staircase. My 2 year old Johnnie. And 6 month old Joey (not a new December photo, but definitely one that shows off the serious eyebrow lift he often does.)
